What to know before getting started
It’s normal to have questions before reaching out.
Here are a few things that may help you get a better sense of what to expect.
-
A: I am a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern in the state of Florida, working under the supervision of a licensed clinician as I complete the requirements for full licensure.
I have completed my graduate training and provide therapy under supervision in accordance with state guidelines.
-
A: As a pre-licensed therapist, I work under the supervision of a licensed clinician to support the quality of care I provide.
-
A: For couples therapy, I work on a private-pay basis.
Insurance may be accepted for individual therapy depending on your plan.
-
A:Couples therapy is $175 per 55-minute session.
-
A: Sessions are typically 55-minutes.
In some cases, longer sessions may be recommended, especially at the beginning of couples work.
-
A: It’s completely normal to feel unsure.
Most couples I work with have already tried to talk things through on their own and aren’t sure what will be different. The focus of this work is not just talking about the problem, but helping you experience those moments differently in real time.
-
A: My role is not to take sides, but to understand what’s happening between both of you and help you move out of the patterns that keep you stuck.
Both partners are equally important in the process.
-
A: Yes.
While couples therapy is most effective when both partners are involved, individual sessions can still be helpful in understanding patterns and beginning to shift how you respond within the relationship.
-
A: It’s common for couples to come in when things already feel strained.
Part of my role is to help create a space where those moments can be slowed down and worked through in a way that feels more manageable and less overwhelming.
